AAHPERD Jump Rope For Heart Grant Program • The grant provides a one year AAHPERD membership, a trip to the AAHPERD National Convention, and a $1,200 US Games gift certificate to purchase equipment to enhance your physical education program. • This grant is supported by AAHPERD and is open to all individuals that have held a JRFH/HFH event within the last year. • Have conducted a Jump Rope For Heart or Hoops For Heart event in the past year. • To apply you must: Submit a brief paper that: • Focus on the passion you, your students, your school, and/or your community has for JRFH/HFH • Summarize how the grant will enhance your school’s physical education program to support the NASPE Standards and Guidelines • Include a sample budget to support the program/equipment described in your paper (Include a lesson plan you have used in support of your JRFH and/or HFH event • Website: http://www.aahperd.org/jump/awards/recipients/
HIGHMARK Healthy High 5 • grant proposals for initiatives that improve nutrition education, enhance nutrition choices and provide opportunities for physical activities. • each school is eligible to receive up to 10,000 per year. • The schools that receive the grant are also allowed to apply for the grant each year. • they address five critical issues: nutrition, physical activity, self esteem, bullying prevention and grieving • since 2007 more than 750 school challenge grants have been awarded in 49 pa counties totaling more than 5.5 million bucks • all grants include an evaluation component that addresses atleast on of the following outcomes: • increase the minutes per week of physical activity • improve the fitness levels in students • expose students to activities that have the potential to instill lifetime healthy behaviors and motivate them to be more physically active. • Website: http://www.highmarkhealthyhigh5.org/grants/schools.shtml
