  3. Case study: Samantha Educational goal: Business Administration-Marketing, CSULB ESL placement test: ESL 60 and ESL 51 Math placement test: Math 30 Has been dancing since age 3. Doesn’t like science.

  4. Full-time enrollment • Students on F1 visa are required to take at least 12 units each semester • 12-14 units recommended for 1st semester

  5. General Education & major • General Education (GE): Courses that will give students breath of knowledge. Required to earn associate degree or transfer to 4-year university. • Major: Courses in students’ chosen field of study.

  6. Case study: Yumi • Educational goal: Study hospitality at OCC • ESL placement test: ESL 55 and ESL 31 • Math placement test: Math 120 • Wants to work for an airline after graduation

  7. Case study: truc • Educational goal: Graduate from UCI • ESL placement test: ESL 55 and ESL 51 • Math placement test: Math 10 • Wants to transfer to UCI but doesn’t know which major.
