  1. Saints—They Made the Most of It Chapter 4

  2. What is a saint? • Saints are souls united with God forever in heaven. • On earth, saints lived lives of holiness and special closeness to God. • We are all called to become saints. • How does the Catholic Church declare a saint?

  3. Conversion • Conversion is a turning away from sin and turning toward God. • Conversion (convert) is also used to describe someone who chooses to become Catholic. Aids to Conversion: Sacraments, prayer, grace, angels and saints, intercessions, the example of holy men and women, the guidance of the Church…

  4. Good Confession Steps to a good confession: • Know your sins • Be sorry for your sins • Decide not to sin again • Confess you sins to a priest in the Sacrament of Penance • Receive and do your penance

  5. Worthy Communion Steps to a worthy Communion • Be free from mortal sin • Fast for one hour before receiving Communion • Know whom you are about to receive (true presence) • Receive Communion reverently • Offer thanksgiving

  6. Communion of Saints The Communion of Saints include all those who share in God’s friendship: • The Church Militant—faithful souls on earth who are striving to get to heaven • The Church Suffering—the holy souls in purgatory who are being purified and prepared for their entry into heaven • The Church Triumphant—the souls in heaven with the angels

  7. Reflection You have made us for yourself, O Lord, and our hearts are restless until they rest in you. St. Augustine Write/Draw a prayer to God about your desire to be a saint or in thanksgiving for the saints
