Look over the contents of the assessment… Compare and contrast two job search engines. Some possibilities include Monster.com, CareerBuilder.com, USAjobs.gov, and Indeed.com. Examine each search engine and take notes on what you find. Look at how the web site is set up and how easy it is to use. Create and answer five questions that apply to both sites. Write a summary of what you learn about the two job search engines.

Exploration • Do alignment searches in all three areas. • Identify Essential Skill Rank. • Examine NGAs. • Find three or more that appeal to you. • Create folders as necessary and upload them to your library.
Creation • Go to My Library. • Click “Create a new NGA.” • Fill in Title, Subject, Grade Level and Create New Folder boxes. • Select a standard of focus. • Create Assessment.

Why? “Rigor isn’t as much about the standards as it is about how you ask students to reach the standards” (2). “The focus is not on the quantity of assignments but on the quality of those assignments” (3). “Although it is important to provide students with content that is rigorous, how you ask students to think about the content is even more important” (4). “Even your most disconnected, unprepared student can master rigorous thinking” (5).
