  3. HPT001.023 Revision 3 Page 44 of 50 DAC, DACF, %DAC and DAC-hours Derived Air Concentration (DAC) – concentration of a given radionuclide in air, which if breathed by the reference man for a working year of 2000 hours under conditions of light work, results in an intake of one ALI, annual limit on intake. DAC Fraction (DACF) – the fraction of the DAC value that is present. It is calculated by dividing air activity by the limit. %DAC – the percentage of the DAC value that is present. DAC-hour – indicates the amount of exposure. It is calculated by multiplying the DACF or the %DAC by the time in the area.

  7. HPT001.023 Revision 3 Page 48 of 50 Procedures TVAN Standard for Respiratory Protection is SPP-5.10 Browns Ferry uses RCI-3.1 Sequoyah uses RCI-4 Watts Bar uses RCI-107

  8. HPT001.023 Revision 3 Page 49 of 50 Requirements of SPP-5.10 • Certified by NIOSH/MSA • RWP to document entry and specify type of respirator or IS • Valid worker qualifications • Issued from designated location and only to wearer • Test and inspect filters and canisters after each use • Clean, sanitize, survey, and inspect respirators after each use • Periodic whole body counts to evaluate program

  9. HPT001.023 Revision 3 Page 50 of 50 When is Intake Monitoring Required? • Adults likely to receive an in excess of 10% of ALI in one year • Minors likely to receive a committed dose equivalent of 0.100 Rem in one year • Declared pregnant women likely to receive, during the entire pregnancy, a committed effective dose equivalent in excess of 0.100 Rem
