  2. 1st Activity- 1 minute Write the following words in your study guide: 1. bode 6. invalid 2. compact 7. lunar 3. complement 8. prey 4. concept 9. prime 5. gigantic 10. rectify

  3. 2nd Activity- 10 minutes 1. Work with a partner or alone and match the definitions to the words (with the word strips provided) 2. Once they are checked for correctness, you will write the definitions into your study guide. 3. You may use your book to read the word in a sentence.

  4. 3rd Activity- 5 minutes 1. You will be assigned 1-2 words to write a GOOD sentence for. You must show the meaning of the word/s in some way (hint: use a synonym). 2. You will present the sentence/s during the powerpoint.

  9. 2. compact Often times a bride’s bouquet is very compact where all of the stems come together. 1. POS- adjective Definition- tightly bound together; small Synonym- bunched, close together Antonym- loose 2. POS- verb Definition- to complete

  11. 3. complement A bride needs to find just the right accessories to complement her dress. 1. POS- noun Definition- something that completes or perfects Synonym- match Antonym- take away 2. POS- verb Definition- to complete

  13. 4. concept Did you understand the concepts that were presented in geometry class? POS- noun Definition- a thought or an idea Antonym- being, concrete

  23. 9. prime This is known to be a prime speaker system in today’s stereo market. POS- adjective Definition- first; top rated in quality or value Synonym- best, elite Antonym- cheap, generic

  25. 10. rectify If your vision is getting worse you may need to rectify the problem by getting glasses. POS- verb Definition- to correct; make right Synonym- repair, fix Antonym- damage, ruin

  26. roots, suffix • roots • prim means “first” (i.e. primal, primary) • rect means “straight” or “correct” (i.e. rectify, correct) • Suffix • ify means “to make” (i.e. rectify, magnify, identify)
