  4. What’s Next? 2nd ENGAGE-NM event When: May 1, 2009 Where: Albuquerque Convention Center 2009 partner: NM Young Researchers’ Banquet and NM RoboRAVE Collaborate with ACI, MSAC ,Project 2012, NM Business Roundtable, Hispano Chamber of Commerce…. ,Industry at the forefront “A tripleheader!”

  5. What is unique about ENGAGE-NM? THE VOICE OF INDUSTRY IS OUR PRIMARY DRIVER OF AGENDA AND PROGRAMMING NATIONAL and INTERNATIONAL CORPORATIONS ARE INTERESTED IN NEW MEXICO AND COMMITTING RESOURCES TO A FUTURE KNOWLEDGE WORKFORCE (Cisco, Microsoft, Intel, Lenovo, IBM, SAS, Fidelity, Bank of America) INDUSTRY PARTNERING ACROSS THE STATE IN A UNIFIED WAY TO PROMOTE STEM EDUCATION

  6. What must happen next? • “STEM Seed” money from industry, State and Government to begin the work • Statewide Awareness Campaign • Industry buy-in/partnership for action • Assess industry needs – future job needs in NM (work with NM First and NM Econ. Development)

  7. What can this “seed money” do? • Fund scholarships to underserved students • Fund awareness campaign for New Mexico • Create internships across the State • Allow access to Virtual mentors, virtual tours of New Mexico museums (disseminated through IDEAL-NM), other mentoring opportunities • Allow for assessment of existing STEM programs • Development of STEM elective modules on IDEAL-NM

Our Partners • A commitment to move ENGAGE-NM forward • A stateside media campaign partnered with Intel, Project 2012, MSAC, Inquiry Facilitators and statewide partners • A commitment to collaborate with all groups to reach and recruit students into the STEM fields • A commitment of partnership with NM Math & Science Partnership/Project 2012 • A commitment from 3 Research Universities • A partnership with Age Nation/Engage New Mexico!
