Population of Greece • The population of Greece is 10,767,827 people. • The population of Athens contains approximately 3.252 million. • Another city in Greece is Thessaloniki which contains 834,000. • The currency is the Euro.It was formally Drachma. • There are 5.203 million lan line phones and 12.293 million mobiles.
Ethnicity • 93% of Greece is Greek and 7% of the population are foreign nationals. • 98% of Greece are orthodox, 1.3%is Islamic and .7% are other religions.
Economic activities of Greece • Inflation rates in Greece have grown to 2.69%. • The unemployment rate of Greece is standing at 17.3%. • They earn $26.64 billion a year from exporting alone. • They earn it by exporting food, beverages, manufactured goods, petroleum products, chemicals and textiles. • They’re trading partners are Germany, Italy, China, UK, Bulgaria, Cyprus.
Main industries. • In Greece there main industries are tourism, food and tobacco processing, textiles, chemicals, metal products, petroleum. • They make $27.875 a year from tourism. • They make $2.145 billion from exporting food. • They make $2000 per acre a year from just tobacco. • Finally they make $1 billion thanks to there exporting of petroleum.
Main Agriculture. • They’re main agricultural produce is wheat, corn, barely, sugar beets, olives, tomatoes and wine etc.
Brief History of Greece. • The Greeks today call themselves Hellenes and Greece it self Hellas. • The word “Greece” actually comes from the Romans. • In the fifth century BC Greece was divided between the Macedonians, Spartans, Ephesus, Byzantion and the Marseilles. • But they all claimed to be Greeks, all these different factions of Greeks had they’re own set of governments, army’s and independence. • All these factions fought against each other to control Greece. • The Macedonians controlled Greece for a brief period of time when King Phillip II rained to then be forced to hand over the thrown to his son Alexander the Great when king Phillip II was assassinated by a assassin hired by his wife. • Alexander then died in 323BC and Greece split into two main political parties.
Greece Is Famous for.... • Greece is famous for: • Brilliant architecture. • Historical Buildings. • Poets and philosophers like Homer and Plato. • For they’re knowledge on astronomy. • They’re also known for they’re mythology and finally they’re food.
