Solutions • Database to store business information • VB application that generates detailed invoices • Application that generates reports for management to track the business progress • Track customer history Problems • Excel ineffective • Cannot find necessary information to efficiently resolve customers’ problems with shipments • Cannot track location / progress of shipment • Labor intensive to provide detailed invoice • Cannot efficiently track “black-listed” companies and credit limits • Unable to measure degree of success/failure

  6. Expected Information System • The system is expected to carry out the most functional areas of business; generating invoices, creating managerial reports, and maintaining customers’ information. • The system is platform dependent, but user friendly. It can run on any Windows OS.

  8. Detailed consignee history can be maintained and retrieved. Complete shipment detail can be acquired. Progress of the company can be reviewed.

The application has to be finished by April 2011. • Company has only 4 part-time programmers who are familiar with VB programming. • Company does not want to invest a lot of money for database system. • Company wants to cut down maintenance (training, technical support) cost as much as possible. • Application must run on Windows OS. • The new system should be scalable in the future.
