2. What is kangaroo care? • Care system for baby. • Especially good for premature babies and in neonatal ICU. • Use chest of mother instead of incubator.

3. The history of kangaroo care • Starts from Colombia in south America.(1983) • It spread out to Europe and U.S.A • In the U.S.A, 84 % of neonatal ICU are doing kangaroo care.

4. Why? How? • Skin to skin • Chest to chest • Upright • Never flat • It is important that baby skin from bellybutton up to the sternum is completely in contact with parent skin.

5. Why? How? • When baby come to the chest of mother, the temperature of mother is going high until baby feel warm. • After baby feel warm, the temperature of mother is going down. • The change of the temperature start immediately after baby come to the chest. • Temperature changes several times in a minutes. Depends on the temperature of baby.

6. Why? How? • Infection? • Incubator is more dangerous than mother’s chest. • Because of less cry, deeper sleep and less stress, the level of immunity is increased. • More than 500 researches that compare babies in incubator and kangaroo care shows that babies who got kangaroo care have better condition.

7. Why? How? Full 2~3 cycles of the sleep in 3 hours. No cycling, no good quiet regular sleep
