MP3 report – week 20-21 12/5/2010 – 19/05/2010 MP3/QPS team in CCC LMC: 19th May 2010
MP3 interventions LMC: 19th May 2010
Weeks 20-21. General Issues • Very quiet week for hardware issues • Multiple problems during entire week with board A of circuits RQS.L7B2, RQTL11.L2B2, RQTL11.L5B1: everytime after combo to be switched to Board B. • Already known problem • Waiting for technical stop • EiC will be authorized to do safe operations • Three interventions from home during the night. • Extremely slow connection and time-out after a while • Bottleneck seems to be the CERNTS server. (Pierre Charrure) LMC: 19th May 2010
Communication problem with nQPS (I) • RB.A12, RQD/F.A12 lost the communication during ramping on 12th May. • Power cycling required to re-establish communication only 12 hours later. • Heaters fired in C12L2, A13L2 and C13L2 (all the magnets monitored by that crate) but not post-mortem files generated LMC: 19th May 2010
Communication problem with nQPS (II) • Do we need to interlock the QPS_OK with the energy? • Not sure if the detection is working correctly • Symmetric quench and bus-bar protection for one cell equivalent • QPS team looking at the problem. • Tests in the lab done without being able of reproducing the fault. • If the fault reappears, hardware expert needs to be called to do diagnostics LMC: 19th May 2010
Orbit correctors issues • RCBXH1.L1 trip on Saturday 15th due to 0 V crossing during the ramp-down combo • 24 orbit correctors tripped due to orbit feedback on Monday, 18 and 16on Tuesday. Three times since Monday. Not understood yet. LMC: 19th May 2010
Water fault in main PS • water fault in RB.A34 on Tuesday 18th May • quench heater in C15L4 fired as a consequence of the energy extraction. • At 2500 A • -2 A/s • ... LMC: 19th May 2010
