  1. ANALYSIS OF THE METHODS OF AUTOMATIC BUILDING ONYOLOGY S.V.RomanovSaratov state technical university

  2. Онтологии • Ontology is complex of concepts (objects) and relationships, including events and processes • Ontology is the ordered triple O=<T, R, F >, • T- finite set of terms, • R- finite set of relationships • F- finite set of functions of interpretations, defined on concepts and/or relationships of ontology O.

  3. Building ontology • The main mathematical model is descriptive logics • Only an expert can build ontology in his subject area. • The complexity of process automation • Huge amount of data • Poor formalized task

  4. building ontology consists of four stages: • defining classes of ontology, • defining relationships ontology, • defining slots and descriptions of permissible values of slots, • filling values of slots for exemplars

  5. Automatic building of ontologies • the approach, using lexico-syntactic patterns; • the approach, using system of productions; • the approach, using statistic method.

  6. The approach, using lexico-syntactic patterns • It is not specialized in a particular subject area • Lexico-syntactic patterns are characteristic expressions (phrases and expressions) and the constructions of elements of the language

  7. Example • The pattern «such NP as (NP,)* (or|and) NP» describes the sentence «. .works by such authors as Herrick, Goldsmith, and Shakespeare». • it says that there is the relationship between Herrick, Goldsmith, and Shakespeare. • They are alike.

  8. The approach, using system of productions • The approach, using system of productions, offers the model of automatic building ontologies, which can be represented in system of productions with using genetic and machine programming for creating needed models.

  9. The approach, using statistic methods • The approach, using statistic methods, does not depend on linguistic features of a natural language and includes next stages: • preliminary text processing; • extraction of terming; • selection of classes of ontology.

  10. Conclusion • the approach of using lexico-syntactic patterns is optimal and “transparent” for automatic building ontologies in collection of text documents
