  2. Why do we take it? • Measures if you have grade level skills in: • Language Arts (ELA) • Math • Science How are you scored? • You are scored out of 300 points: • Advanced proficient: 250-300 • Proficient: 200-249 • Partially proficient: 100-199

  3. What to expect-Reading • 4 Reading passages worth 52 pts. total • Each has: • 9 multiple choice (1 pt. each) • 1 open-ended (4 pts. each)

  4. What to expect-Writing *There will be 2 total writing tasks (essays)* • One will be a persuasive essay/argument • One will be an explanatory essay or narrative

  5. Persuasive/Argument Task • You will write a persuasive essay arguing a certain side of an issue • It should be 5 paragraphs • It is worth 12 points total

  6. Explanatory/Narrative Task • This is worth 6 points • You will be asked to write either an: • Explanatory essay (explaining, like the “Annoying Essay”)- 5 paragraphs • Narrative piece (a story, like the stories we wrote in the beginning of the year)

  7. Field Test • You will have 1 extra reading or writing passage • It will not count • Nobody knows which prompt/passage is the field test so…. Do your best on everything!

  8. What is the best part? • You get no homework all week • This is the last year you take it!!!!!!!!!!!
