Copy your homework: page 444 Both Try Its Review for HSA: Esther wants to make a scale model of the 14-foot statue of King Kamehameha that is located in Hilo. For the model she plans to use a scale of ¾ inch for each foot of the statue. What should be the height of Esther’s model? Write your answer and show how you got your answer. ANSWER

  2. Graphing Review Remember that the coordinates read as (x, y) (2,3) The x is for LEFT or RIGHT The y is for UP or DOWN

  3. Geometric Dilations Remember that the point (2,3) reads as (x, y) If you dilate this point by a scale factor of 2… you multiply the x coordinate by 2 and the y coordinate by 2. (2x2, 3x2) to get the new point (4, 6)

  4. Try it Together • The coordinates of a parallelogram are A (-8, 8), B (0, -8), C (0,0), and D (-8,0). • Graph and connect the dots. • Draw and label the new parallelogram A’B’C’D’ after a dilation by a scale factor of ½. • Is the dilation an enlargement or reduction?
