  1. Introduction Answering Muslims Questions About Christians’ Faith

  2. Our Theme • 1Pet. 3:14b, 15 • “And do not fear their intimidation (fear), and do not be troubled, but sanctify Christ as Lord in your hearts, always being ready to make a defence to everyone who asks you to give an account for the hope that is in you, yet with gentleness and reverence.”

  3. Steps for Evangelism • 1. Free from Fear • 2. Christ alone is my Lord • SANCTIFY “(Hagiazo) means to hallow, or withdrawing from fellowship with the world and from selfishness by first gaining fellowship with God and toward God.” • 3. Give an answer (pay the price, be ready) (please pay attention to the next 2 slides) • 4. Do this with gentleness and respect.

  4. 2 important notes • Never stop speaking about Jesus and your God but make sure that you are filled with the Holy spirit. • Learn and study to be ready to give an answer, and we are here to help and equip you.

  5. Definitions • Islam: The Arabic word ‘Islam’ simply means ‘submission’ and in a religious context it means complete submission to the will of Allah. • The word could mean ‘peace’ under one condition (as shown by the old Arabic dictionaries) and this condition is to submit to the will of Allah as revealed in Islam.

  6. Islam, Muslims and Islamism "what is going on?" • Islam is not only a religion that deals with individuals and their God in worship • Islam is culture and community • Islam is a way of life • Islam is Law (Sharia’h) and consequently, Islam is government • Islam is a state • Islam is Law and not Grace

  7. The first Islamic story http://theology101.org/isl/bukhari/bh1/bh1_02.htm

  8. Core Elements Of Islam • One God - Tawhid • One final prophet - Muhammad • One final revelation – Qur’an & Hadith • One law for all – Shari‘a • One perfect model -- Muhammad • One people of God – Muslim community (Umma)

  9. All practising Muslims . . . accept the Quran as the literal word of God and the Sunnah (example) of the Prophet Muhammad as a normative model for living.(Azzam Tamimi, “Fundamentalism and violence: an Islamic viewpoint”, Institute of Political Thought, 26 March 2004). • The Prophet as the founder of Islam and the messenger of God's revelation to mankind is the interpreter par excellence of the Book of God; and his Hadith and Sunnah, his sayings and actions are, after the Qur'an, the most important sources of the Islamic tradition.(“Last Prophet”, http://www.islamia.com/the_last_prophet.htm)

  10. Differences Between Islam & Christianity GOD’S NATURE & ATTRIBUTES • Trinitarian Monotheism • Transcendent • Personal, Relational • Immanent • Revealed in Christ • Suffering • Father/child relationship • Love • Binds himself by what he reveals and promises • Unitarian (Rigid Monotheism) • Transcendent • Other • Power • Impersonal • Capricious • Master/slave relationship
