“Divisible by” means you can divide one number by another number and not have a remainder. Remainder
Every number is divisible by one. You will have a one on every list of factors!!!
Every even number is divisible by 2. Even numbers end with 2, 4, 6, 8, or 0. There will be a 2 on the factor list of every even number!!
Add up the digits in a number. If the sum is divisible by 3, then the whole number is divisible by 3. Example: 456 4+5+6=15. 15 is divisible by 3 so 456 is divisible by 3.
If the last two digits of a number are divisible by 4, then the whole number is divisible by 4. Example: 5,628 28 is divisible by 4 so 5,628 is divisible by 4.
If the last digit of a number is 5 or 0, then the whole number is divisible by 5. There will be a 5 on the factor list of every number ending in 5 or 0. Example: 75,230 there is a 0 at the end of the number so it is divisible by 5.
If the number is divisible by 2 AND 3, then it is also divisible by 6. If there is a 2 and a 3 on a factor list, there will also be a 6 on the list. Example: 1356 1356 is even, so there will be a 2 on the factor list. 1+3+5+6=15 and 15 is divisible by 3. 1356 is divisible by both 2 and 3, so it is also divisible by 6.
8 There are no easy divisibility rules for 7 and 8!!
Add up the digits in a number. If the sum is divisible by 9, then the whole number is divisible by 9. Example: 486 4+8+6=18. 18 is divisible by 9 so 486 is divisible by 9.
Wonderful 10 is the easiest of all. If the number ends in 0, then that number is divisible by 10. That means 10 is a factor of that number. Example: 15,760 ends with 0 so it is divisible by 10!
