Introduction/Background • Social Worker, Assertive Outreach Team (adult mental health) • Youth Worker, Coventry City Council • On-line interprofessional discussions facilitator, Coventry University & University of Warwick • Mature student: Social Work; Health & Social Policy • Previous employment experience, skills and knowledge from roles in industry, universities, statutory, independent and voluntary organisations

  3. Interprofessional Learning and Education • Shared modules and study • Practice placements • Online IPLP programme • Fear, uncertainty and confusion • Dominance of the healthcare professions/medical model • Limited consideration/understanding of social issues/factors • Dawning enlightenment

  4. Transition to Practice • Hybrid: health/social care, youth work and academic/IPLP • Multi-professional team • Shared care co-ordination and common goals • Day-to-day learning through ‘absorption’ • CPD/Training: across health & social care • Shared recording systems/databases • Professional identity • ‘Patient’ v ‘Service User’: medical v social model
