Linking Verbs • Connect a subject to a noun or adjective • am, is, are, was, were • be, been, being • appear, become, feel, grow, look • sound, seem, smell, stay, taste, remain • (ABee Felt Good Looking. Someone Seemingly Smelled Stale Taco Remains.)
Helping Verbs • A helping verb ALWAYS comes before another verb. • am, is, are, was, were • be, been, being • have, has, had • do, does, did • will, would, can, could, shall, should • may, might, must • ought
Action Verbs • There are too many action verbs to memorize! • If it is not a helping or linking verb, it must be an action verb!Just SOME examples: • running, skipping, playing, jumping
