  2. ACT Prep “Mr. Kernan sent a letter to his office next day and remaine in bed. She made beef-tea for him and scolded him roundly. She accepted his frequent intemperance as part of the climate, healed him dutifully whenever he was sick and always tried to make him eat a breakfast. There were worse husbands. He had never been violent since the boys had grown up, and she knew that he would walk to the end of Thomas Street and back again to book even a small order.”

  7. Group Activity (25 Min) • You will be assigned a group and a historical event/law to analyze. All of the events were chosen due to their affiliation with the American Revolution and the Declaration of Independence • Your assignment: With your group, read and summarize the event with your group and respond to the question: How did this event support or negate the social contract? Choose one person to present your event to the class.

  14. Exit Ticket • Write two paragraphs about how the ideals of the Social Contract show up in the Declaration of Independence. Each paragraph should have an thesis/topic, 2 pieces of evidence (one from the Social Contract, one from the Declaration) and analysis tying them together. • *Remember to identify which Social Contract theory you are using
