Continual Growth and Increasing Apostasy in America “ But evil men and seducers shall wax worseand worse, deceiving and being deceived.” 2 Timothy 3:13 KJV “While evil people and impostors will go on from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived” 2 Timothy 3:13 ESV
I. The Apostate Christians leave God into their own way today • They learn from the liberal philosopher’s idea of NEW MORALITY for those who have a right to choose for themselves: • The gay marriage. • Abortion. • Premarital sex • Marijuana
II. The Apostate Christians are like King Saul in Israel. • The Prophet Samuel yielded the right of the Jews who wanted to have a king in Israel like the world. 1 Samuel 8:1-22 • King Saul feared the people and listened to their voice more than God. 1 Samuel 15:24 • Their effects: the rapid growth of idols and sins in Israel. • Their consequences: wars and death.
III. The effects of the Apostasy in America • According to Josh McDowell the author, the 1996 research tells a statistical horror story of what is happening every day in America. • 1,000 unwed teenage girls become mothers. • 1,106 teenage girls get an abortion. • 4,219 teenage contract a sexually transmitted disease (STD). • 500 adolescents begin using drugs.
1,000 adolescents begin drinking alcohol. • 135,000 kids bring a gun or other weapon to school. • 3,610 teens are assented; 80 are raped. • 2,200 teens drop out of high school. • 2,700 kids watch their parents separate or divorce. 90 kids are taken from their parents’ custody and placed in foster care, a group home, or institutional care. • 7 kids (ages 10-19) are murdered. • 7 juveniles age 17 and under are arrested for murder • 6 teens commit suicide.
IV. Straight Talk is Necessary • Proverbs 11:14- “Where no counsel is, the people fall: but in the multitude of counselors there is safety.” • Those who need straight talk are parents, teachers, counselors, and pastors. • No passivity among the worldly people. • Love the sinners as Christ loves them like you. John 15:12
Be brave to give honest answers to every age. Colossians 4:6 • Give soft answer to those who feel angry, hurt or depressed. Proverbs 15:1 • Listen to feedback before dealing with their problems. • Pray first before giving counsel. • Share scripturally. • The most important thing is to clean your heart before they will believe your honest answers.
