  3. LANIER FOOTBALLWHO GETS RECRUITED? • Players who indicate a desire to continue playing • Players who stand out on film • Players who meet academic NCAA standards

  4. LANIER FOOTBALLRECRUITING PROGRAM • STEP 1: Perform well academically and athletically

LANIER FOOTBALLRECRUITING PROGRAM • STEP 2: Begin with “Early and Often” testing attempts • Begin taking SAT and ACT during early fall of junior year • Re-take test to improve scores; your best sub score from different tests may be used • Writing component not used for qualifier status • Scores must be reported by the testing agency to the NCAA Clearinghouse

LANIER FOOTBALLRECRUITING PROGRAM • STEP 3: Prospect Inquiries made by colleges and services • Prospect list created and returned by coaches based on players who have indicated a desire to continue playing career (juniors and seniors primarily) • Prospect list includes strength, speed, and academic testing results

  7. LANIER FOOTBALLRECRUITING PROGRAM • STEP 4: HIGHLIGHT VIDEO • Junior and Senior mid-season highlight DVD’s created • Players create list of 10 schools they want contacted on their behalf • DVD’s mailed out to the schools of players interest, as well as, any requested video

LANIER FOOTBALLRECRUITING PROGRAM • STEP 5: High volume mailers • Colleges and recruiting services create lists of potential athletes based on returned mailers, video, etc… • Prospects begin to receive high volume mailers sent out by colleges • Combine information sent out • Junior Day invites and open days mailed out

  10. LANIER FOOTBALLRECRUITING PROGRAM • STEP 6: NCAA Clearinghouse • Parents meeting (Spring) to discuss NCAA Clearinghouse • Fill out NCAA Clearinghouse worksheet • Apply for NCAA Clearinghouse status at the end of junior year

LANIER FOOTBALLRECRUITING PROGRAM • STEP 7: College recruiters visit LHS • Coaches visit during spring to pick-up prospect sheets and video of prospects • Coaches attend spring practice to observe potential prospects • Recruiters may pick-up official high school transcripts • May leave college information for prospective athletes

  12. LANIER FOOTBALLRECRUITING PROGRAM • STEP 8: SUMMER CAMPS • Players attend summer camps at school of interest to them • Players attend team camps • Players participate in combines

LANIER FOOTBALLRECRUITING PROGRAM • STEP 9: College contacts • College coaches may call once during May of junior year • No official visits allowed during junior year • No limit on unofficial visits junior year • Phone calls once per week beginning Sept. 1st of senior year • Off-campus contact permitted after Nov. 27th

  14. LANIER FOOTBALLRECRUITING PROGRAM • Official visits allowed beginning day 1 of senior year • Only 1 official visit per campus • Only 5 official visits allowed • Evaluation and contacts up to 6 times during senior year • Mass mailers continue • Text messages allowed

  15. LANIER FOOTBALLRECRUITING PROGRAM • STEP 10: Mid Season to Post Season • College coaches visit for Friday night game • Phone, mail, and text communication continues • Re-take SAT and ACT tests • Post Season Highlight DVD’s mailed out to colleges and recruiting services

  16. LANIER FOOTBALLRECRUITING PROGRAM • LHS coaches attend Gwinnett County Recruiting Fair at the Gwinnett Arena • College coaches visit Lanier • Official offers made to prospective athletes • Official visits scheduled for uncommitted seniors • National Signing Day in February
