Teobromin: The Powerful Psychostimulant from Cocoa

Teobromin, a purine alkaloid from cacao, discovered in 1841. White crystalline substance, peu soluble in water and tea. Acts as psychostimulant, used for cough and asthma. Excessive intake causes insomnia, tremors, anxiety, diuresis. Contains theobromine, theophylline, and caffeine.

  3. aj v čaji • 1g kakaa= 10 – 40 mg • psichostimulačná látka • pocit blaha • pri liečbe kašľa a astmy • nadmerné množstvo: nespavosť, triaška, úzkosť, zvýšená produkcia moču (strata chuti do jedla, nevoľnosť a zvracanie)
