Today's planned cleanup of Zuccotti Park in lower Manhattan, where Occupy Wall Street protesters have been camped out for a month, has been postponed — bringing cheers and relief to those in the park. Just hours before the cancellation announcement, in a last-ditch bid to stay, protesters had mopped and picked up garbage. "There was a huge round of applause following postponment because ... it dawned on everyone that, well, maybe they're not going to be arrested this morning after all.” In a statement, Deputy Mayor Cas Holloway said that the private park's owner "believes they can work out an arrangement with the protesters that will ensure the park remains clean, safe, available for public use and that the situation is respectful of residents and businesses downtown, and we will continue to monitor the situation.”

De Kraai's ex-wife, Michelle, was a stylist at the salon, and that the two were involved in a custody battle over their son. Michelle De Kraai was among those killed in the shooting. While New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie did not rule out the possibility of appearing in the No. 2 slot on the 2012 GOP presidential ticket, he does have his reservations about how he'd fare in that role. "There are certain personalities that are appropriate for being vice president. I don't know that mine fits in that particular mold." The number of deaths linked to cantaloupes contaminated with the Listeria monocytogenes bacteria has risen to 23, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention confirmed Wednesday. At least 116 cases of listeria have been reported in 25 states, the agency said. The grower, Jensen Farms of Granada, Colorado, issued a voluntary recall of its Rocky Ford brand cantaloupes on September 14. The tainted cantaloupes should be off store shelves, the CDC said. In a move that would throw the nomination calendar into further turmoil, New Hampshire Secretary of State Bill Gardner is now threatening to move the state's primary into early or mid-December unless Nevada backs down on its decision to hold its caucus on a mid-January date. Gardner said in a letter posted on the secretary of state's website Wednesday that Dec. 13 and Dec. 6 are "realistic options" for the first-in-the-nation primary.
