RHPP Overview • New, federally funded program by Health Workforce Australia to recruit and retain nurses and allied health professionals in rural Australia • Rural Workforce Agencies work in collaboration with rural employers to link applicants to jobs and enhance primary health care services • Case management provided & generous financial support for relocation to ‘more rural’ areas Supporting rural health in New South Wales, Australia
How does it work? • 44 Offers to Nurses and Allied Health Professionals since January • Variety of locations and positions • Collaboration between RDN, Employers, Town Stakeholders and Applicants • Funds along with case management assist overcome ‘barriers’ to recruitment and retention • FREE service to employers Supporting rural health in New South Wales, Australia
A Successful Example • Collaboration between HNE Mental Health and RDN to recruit 5 Mental Health Professionals to Moree, Narrabri and Inverell. • Highly competitive market place for health professionals • Proactive and engaged manager • 5 Clinicians all at different stages of life and career all with different needs • Vacancies gone from 48% to NO vacancies Supporting rural health in New South Wales, Australia
