  5. SCHOOL CHANGE SUMMER OF 2003 • Established a School Improvement Team • Reviewed Data • Achievement Data [Basic Skills Tests, ACTS, GPA] • Survey Data • Developed a Plan of Action and Implemented It.

  8. SCHOOL CLIMATE • Re-establish A School Climate Based on Trust and Respect Rather Than Rules and Compliance • Provide Training for All Staff • Provide Intensive Training for New Staff

  10. STAFF DEVELOPMENTPRIORITIES • Establish a Staff Development Model That Supported Teacher Learning. • Developed Professional Learning Communities Called SIT Teams (School Improvement Team) • Established a Committee to Plan Staff Development Days • Support Individual Teacher Development

THREE BROAD AREAS OF FOCUS • Improve the Use of Appropriate Instructional Strategies by Teachers • More Intentional Lesson Plan Development (Key Lesson Planning Question - What will the students do that will have a strong effect on their learning?) • Develop Better Learning Habits in Our Students (Habits of Mind)

  12. IMPROVEMENT OF INSTRUCTION NATIONAL URBAN ALLIANCE (NUA) • Provided the Framework to Improve the Instructional Capacity of Teachers • Cohort Training – 10 teachers per year for five years. Each cohort received intensive training • Deepened and Reinforced the NUA Training at Faculty Meetings.
