  1. IMPLEMENTATION OF COUNTRY SUPPORT PROGRAM FOR GEF FOCAL POINTS IN VIETNAM Bangkok, 2-3 April 2007

PREPARATION • Received letter and guideline from UNEP and GEF Secretary on CSP. • Sent Memorandum and draft Work plan to UNEP. • Got comments from GEF Secretary and UNEP on the Work plan. • On 5th Sep 2006, received Approval for Workplan from GEF Secretary. • On 22nd Sep 2006, received fund from UNEP.

  3. MAJOR ACTIVITIES OF CSP IN VIETNAM • Meetings with stakeholders and related agencies to foster country level Coordination. • Increase awareness on GEF strategic, policies. • Strengthen stakeholder involvement in environmental programs.

  4. MAIN RESULTS • A series of meetings with related Ministries and focal points to discuss on GEF Vietnam priorities in GEF 4 and GEF Vietnam Strategy 2006-2010 organized. • A GEF Vietnam website built and updated information of GEF policies, strategies and GEF Vietnam activities. • Meetings to present on-going and proposed Vietnam projects to draw lessons learnt and review organized.

  5. LESSONS LEARNT • Coordination among national agencies should be fostered to ensure greater countries ownership. • Get larger involvement of stakeholders and consultation in project proposal preparation. • Monitoring on-going and completed projects should be more enhanced.

  6. LESSONS LEARNT • More information exchange between convention focal points and related agencies. • Information provided in GEF Vietnam website is really useful and that should be maintained.
