  2. Parallel/Perpendicular • Parallel lines have the SAME SLOPE and DIFFERENT Y-INTERCEPTS (b) • Ex. Y= 2/3x + 4 • y = 2/3 x – 7 • Slopes of Perpendicular lines have different signs and are reciprocals • Ex. Y = 5/2 x – 8 • y = -2/5 x + 7

  3. Parallel/Perpendicular • Parallel – same slope, different b • Perpendicular lines – CAN HAVE same b, slopes are negative reciprocals of each other • Parallel lines – NO SOLUTION, DON’T CROSS • Perpendicular lines – ONE SOLUTION

  4. Income/Cost/Break even • Break even MEANS when the income = cost • Profit MEANS income – cost • Profit at the break even point is ZERO
