Needs Assessment: • Check stubs will no longer be printed by the payroll department for direct deposit employees to save money • Currently employees have to go physically to the main office and wait for payroll to print a copy of their check stubs • Employee Access system will be available to all employees to access their personal financial information • The Employee Access tutorial will allow the employee to print out their current check stubs or any previous check stub
Needs Assessment: • This online training will free up time for the payroll department since they will no longer need to print check stubs for all 1000 plus employees • This online training will allow the employees access to their financial information without having to physically waste time and gas to get this information from the payroll department
Instructional Goal: • After completing this training the Mercedes ISD employee will be able to print out their own check stubs using Employee Access.
Performance Objectives: • Objective #1 Using Internet Explorer (CN), the learner will be able to access the main screen of Employee Access (B) with no errors (CR) • Objective #2 Using Employee Access login screen (CN), the learner will be able to login (B) with no errors (CR) • Objective #3 Using Employee Access (CN), the learner will be able to print their current check stubs (B) without assistance (CR) • Objective #4 Using Employee Access (CN), the learner will be able to print previous check stubs (B) without assistance (CR)
Learner Characteristics: • The target audience for this online web-based training tutorial will be any full time employee currently employed by the Mercedes Independent School District that have direct deposit • The learner will need to have basic computer skills and be familiar with a web browser • The online training will be targeting mainly the manual trades department personnel which would benefit the most from this training, although all personnel should also benefit from this training • Some learners will have very limited computer skills and the training will take that into consideration
Learning Context: • The instructional setting will be any computer within the school district. All computers in the district are connected to the intranet and are web enabled. • The online training will be available from anywhere as long as the computer is connected to the internet, so the training can also be accessed from home. • The web based training will be self-paced since there will be a big difference in learner computer skills.
Training Module Outline: Introduction: (a) Overview of Training Hello and welcome. Let’s get ready to take control of your personal payroll information. This tutorial will assist you in accessing your personal payroll information without the assistance from the payroll department. You will be able to print your current and previous check stubs from anywhere, which you can use for any credit application.
Training Module Outline: Introduction (b) Statement of Goal and Objectives You will be able to access your current check stubs and old ones thru our payroll system called Skyward Employee Access. The overall goal of training will be to access your personnel payroll information and print it out since check stubs for direct deposit employees will no longer be available. You can print this information from anywhere with a computer that has internet access and a printer. The goal will be that you will no longer need to go to the payroll department to get this information.
Training Module Outline: Introduction (c) What is in this tutorial? This tutorial will be online and web based. It will consist of 3 short lessons, that will have screens identifying major parts of the employee access system. After each lesson activities or questions will be performed. At the end of the lesson you will be able to print your check stubs.
Training Module Outline: Lesson 1: Overview of Skyward Employee Access (a) The learner will be provided with a PhotoStory slide show of what the tutorial will be. (b) They will be provided information on how to get their user and password. (c) A screen will be displayed with the main school district web site.
Training Module Outline: Lesson 2: Access your payroll information (a) The learner will be provided with a screen of the main login of Skyward Employee Access. (b) The learner will be provided with the main screen of Employee Access with information on each main component. (c) The learner will be provided with step-by-step instructions on how to access their previous employee check stubs.. (d) At the end of the lesson the learner will complete an activity to show mastery of the lesson. (e) At the end of this lesson the employee will be able to print their current check stub.
Training Module Outline: Lesson 3: Access previous payroll information (a) The learner will be provided with a screen of the main login of Skyward Employee Access. (b) The learner will be provided with step-by-step instructions on how to access their previous employee check stubs.. (c) At the end of the lesson the learner will complete an activity to show mastery of the lesson. (d) At the end of this lesson the employee will be able to print their current check stub.
Instructional Resources: To complete the web based training the learner will need the following software and hardware: • Hardware: a computer or laptop with internet access, also a printer will be required to print the check stubs • Software: windows internet explorer 5.x and above is required for this training
Formative Evaluation: • A teacher from the Mercedes ISD will take the online tutorial and will evaluate from an end user experience how well the training will be. The teacher will provide feedback, which will allow for any future modifications to the training from an employee point of view. • The network specialist from the Mercedes ISD technology department will act as a Subject Matter Expert, since this person is in charge of maintaining the employee access system. With feedback from this person, I will be able to fix any technical issues that might arise with this web base tutorial.
Summary • After completing the web based training, the Mercedes ISD employee will be able to print out their financial information from any computer with internet access. • This information will be needed for personal loans, buying a car, applying for credit etc. • Their financial information will be at their fingertips without having to rely on the Mercedes ISD payroll department.
