  1. How to use dowels to make wooden joints? Dowel pins are one of the most commonly used pins used in a variety of industrial processes. Spring dowel pin manufacturers are found easily, in just about any part of the world and they cater to all kinds of manufacturers and dowel pin suppliers.Typically a dowel can be defined as a cylindrical rod which are used as structural reinforcements. Dowel pins are often used in combination with wood, like in furniture making to give the furniture the necessary structural rigidity. Dowel pins may also be manufactured out of wood apart from the common variants of steel and carbonated steel. You can easily get dowel pins of all sizes at your nearest grooved pin supplier. If you are looking to use dowels to make wooden joints, read our guide that will tell you about the proper use of dowels to make wooden joints: • Holes: The first thing you would need to ensure that you drill the right sized holes into wooden planks, panels, or wherever you want to place the pins for creating a joint. Dowel pins can be extremely useful in making windows, doors, and cabinets. You should take care that you drill the exact size of holes which is of the dowel pins you are using. Oversized holes can lead to the dowel pins slipping out of place. Similarly drilling undersized holes, would serve no purpose as it would make inserting the pins, extremely difficult or even impossible. • Cross dowel pins: Cross dowel pins are usually used to join two pieces of wood. They might often be confused as normal bolts due to their similarity in looks. The dowel comprises of a threaded section which can align two pieces of wood when inserted properly. They also hold the pieces in place giving balance to the structure. • Dowel joints: Once you have drilled the holes and selected the type of dowel pin you are going to use, the next step would be to create a dowel joint. Joints can be created using dowel pins by placing two pieces of wood. You can do that by creating additional wooden pegs to support the place where the dowel is going to be inserted. Leave at least 4 mm of space around the dowel to ensure smooth movement through the joint created. • Glue: Industrial Glue can also be used in combination of dowels, to keep them in place. Make sure you are using a good quality glue that will be able to support the structure and bear any excess weight or pressure applied to it.
