Should You Look at Diesel Demo Cars for Sale? Perth Expert Advice There are some very sound reasons to investigate demo cars in Perth; drivers can make big savings over a new model and still get access to the same features. Here in Australia, we have seen a marked increase in the number of diesel cars for sale. Some of this can be attributed to our love affair with SUVs, but there are plenty of other models to choose from. In this article, we will take a closer look at why you might want to purchase a diesel as your demo car. Plenty of Models Available As we mentioned, there are plenty of diesel vehicles sold here in Australia every day. Of course, all of the vehicles need to have a demonstrator available for test drives. So, it follows that there are plenty of ex demo cars available for sale in a wide variety of models. Even smaller diesel city cars are available, so you’re not just limited to larger SUVs and Utes. The Evolution of Diesel Many drivers have a strange idea about diesel, if they’ve never driven or owned a diesel car. A modern diesel car doesn’t work like an old tractor with warm up times for coils and all that old outdated drawback of older diesel models. The new diesel cars have hi-tech electronic ignition systems, turbocharges and common rail piezo electric systems to provide plenty of response and performance. So, if you want to purchase a modern diesel car, it will act much like a petrol car when you’re driving it on the road. Improved Fuel Efficiency The latest petrol engines are far more fuel efficient than their predecessors, but they are still less fuel efficient when compared to a diesel powered engine. In fact, a diesel engine could have approximately 30% better fuel economy compared to a petrol power plant of an equivalent size. A diesel engine will have more compression; this means that the expansion that occurs during the cycle will take place over a greater range. Essentially, more useable power will be delivered, and better fuel economy will be achieved at the same time. Better Lower Rev Performance When compared to a petrol engine, a diesel engine will deliver three or even four times the amount of torque at 2,000 rpm. This is in the rev range that you would typically use for normal driving, so a diesel car can handle slopes and hills easily. This better low rev performance also makes a diesel powered vehicle better at towing. When you tow using a petrol powered car, you will typically need to rev higher, and even then it cannot match the diesel for peak torque performance. So, if you want to tow a caravan or trailer to the beach at the weekend a diesel powered car is a great choice.
