Mission Statement/ Teaching Philosophy My main goal as a Physical Education in the high school level is to make them realize how important physical activity is in life. I would also teach students the basic motor and manipulative skills. I also believe its important to teach people of all fitness levels to be able to create their own fitness programs. I will let them be active as much as possible during the periods. I will give compliments and some constructive criticism because I believe that helps them build confidence and gain knowledge of the skill/sport.
NASPE Physical Education Standards Standard 1: Demonstrates competency in motor skills and movement patterns needed to perform a variety of physical activities. Standard 2: Demonstrates understanding of movement concepts, principles, strategies, and tactics as they apply to the learning and performance of physical activities. Standard 3: Participates regularly in physical activity. Standard 4: Achieves and maintains a health-enhancing level of physical fitness. Standard 5: Exhibits responsible personal and social behavior that respects self and others in physical activity settings. The way I would grade my students would by giving a few quizzes, participation, sportsmanship, skills. This is a brief breakdown: 30% Participation/Preparation 20% Sportsmanship/teamwork 35% Tests 15% Basic motor/manipulative skills Grading Policy
Dress for class unless one has a definitive excuse with a note Show sportsmanship/teamwork Show basic knowledge of motor skills and games No profound language and worn jewelry Cooperate and be active in class Classroom Rules/Regulations/Expectations
After school make-up classes at the end of the quarter (max=3) After school sport activities Project Adventure- group games that show teamwork/cooperation PE Programs/Features
Sports Night twice a year: 12/3/08, 6/4/09 This will be an event held in the gym at night which involves many games that each grade will compete in. Anyone may come and watch even if they don’t want to play. This is a way to bind the classmates and let them enjoy school and physical activity. The combined score will be the winning grade of the year. School/Community Events

My name is Michael Galeotafiore and I graduated from Plainedge High School and I am currently a freshman at Adelphi University. I am majoring in Physical Education and I hope to become a Physical Education teacher. I love working with kids and teaching them whether it be kids or teenagers. I am strongly in favor of physical activity. It definitely is healthy not only physically, but mentally as well. I love sports and follow them closely; mainly baseball, football and basketball.
