2. What are Regions? • Places are divided into regions for different reasons. • Regions can be based on physical features, climate, economy, culture, etc. • Each region has unique landforms and natural resources that help generate money for that region.

Characteristics of Regions • Landforms – States in regions have common physical features, such as mountains, beaches, lakes, etc. • Climate – States in regions have similar weather. • Natural Resources – Regions have certain natural resources that are directly linked to the types of landforms present in that region. • Culture – Regions have similar traditions, beliefs, and customs that are unique to that area.
