Intech & PublicationsInforming the Automation Professional Eoin Ó Riain ISA Ireland & Publications Department
Publications Department • Responsible for publications of the society Current VP - Don Frey (donfrey@cloudnet.com) VP-Elect: Ed Vodapest (evodopest@att.net) Staff Manager: Chip Lee (tlee@ISA.org) • Very active department with a lot of email discussion
InTech • Newly redesigned and enhanced in 2006 • Mission • Provides the most thought-provoking and authoritative coverage of automation technologies, applications, and strategies to enhance automation professionals’ on-the-job success. • Monthly magazine with periodic special topic inserts www.isa.org/InTech
InTech The Pubs Dept are continuing to evaluate the impact of the new InTech design and content strategy, in particular in certain content areas that we had previously identified as important. One of these is ‘Automation Basics’, addressed by a monthly column in the new InTech.: • What do you think of this column? Any way we can improve it? • Do you think this column sufficiently addresses our readers’ need for ‘automation basics’ information, or do we need more content (e.g. feature articles) on automation basics? • Any specific topics you would like to see covered in the column or in other ways? • I can see two target readerships for this material: young people just out of school (or even still in school), and mid-life career changers who are adding automation to their skill set or even moving into automation from some other area altogether. Should content be different for these two groups? If so, how? www.isa.org/InTech
InTech “We plan to publish the digital version abut the time that the magazine goes into the mail, so digital subscribers will get it quicker than print subscribers. The archives will start with the Jan 2006 issue.” - Chip Lee http://staging3.texterity.com/intech/200604/
