Lyric Poem – “Country Scene” • Lyric Poem • Short poem that expresses a speaker’s thoughts or feelings. • In ancient Greece, lyric poems were sung to the music of a stringed instrument called a lyre. • Today, we call the words to all song types “lyrics.”

What does the speaker think of when she hears that sound? • According to the speaker, what outlasts both nature and love? • How does the speaker portray the scene in the first two stanzas?
