Introduction • Ever wonder what Kung Fu Panda’s habitat is like? Well here’s your chance to find out! Get ready to go into the wild to learn more about where your animal lives while in their natural habitat, wherever that may be! Are you ready to go on an adventure into the wild?
Task • As you begin your journey into the wild you will be asked to learn about what your animal eats and what their home is like. Make sure you watch closely because you are going to have to replicate their habitat! You will be graded on your diorama as well as your explorer log. Have Fun!!
Process • Follow the steps below to begin your adventure • I will walk around the class with all our favorite animals written on pieces of paper. When it is your turn, you will choose one piece of paper saying what animal you will be researching. • Once you know your animal, you will research all there is to know about them: • Where does your animal live? • What is their habitat like? • What does your animal eat? • What other plants or animals live in your animals environment? • After your research is complete, you are going to fill out your Explorer Log that I handed out in class. These will be hung around the classroom so make sure your write neatly!! Explorer Log.doc
Process • Now that you learned about where your animal comes from and what its home is like, you will make a diorama of its habitat. This can be done in an old shoebox you may have lying around the house! You can use any materials you find that would work! (sticks, rocks, construction paper, leaves, markers, colored pencils, toy animals)… Remember, it is your time to be creative! • After you have made your diorama, we will be working on making masks of our animals in class. I will be supplying you with paint, poster board and string. It is your job to bring your ideas and a picture of your animal! These masks will be worn by you at our Finale Animal Bash, so make sure to be creative!
