Microsoft Office 365 is a commercial software plus services offering a set of products from Microsoft Corporation, with the initial plan including a Professional subscription (for organizations of 25 and smaller) and an Enterprise subscription (for organizations with more individuals).   4. Issues P – SharePoint Foundation E – SharePoint Server Q: Can I switch between Office 365 plan families (Plans P1 and E)? You cannot migrate between a Plan P account and a Plan E account. In order to move between the two plans you would need to cancel your account and then sign up for a different one. You can’t have the same site name after the cancelation without a request to support.

Site Collections Overview • 4 domains/subdomains: • yourname.sharepoint.com – private, can have explicit SC • yourname-my.sharepoint.com – My sites host, private • yourname-pub.sharepoint.com – public, own domain can be used • yourname-admin.sharepoint.com – administration panel • No possibility to add managed path for internal SC

  14. Search? No administration It’s not clear when indexing takes place. No possibility to start manually. No possibility to create Managed Properties Search scopes only on site collection level. Search scopes not allow using Managed Properties. Only Web Address and Terms.

  15. Issues No Site Settings in Site Actions on root site of public site collection Several pages are missing (Manage Content and Structure) To Activate Publishing (Web) feature you need to rename OOB libraries User Profiles are available only for authorized users.

  20. Administration No backup available No PowerShell for SP Online. Only for Office 365 and Exchange Online

  21. Resume Office 365 is good for small business SP Online E plans are not suitable for organization portals. Limited and not usable OOB, hard or impossible to customize. SP Online can be used as a document storage. SP Online is not designed to power users. Only to SP professionals. Sandbox solutions are VERY limited now.
