  4. Registrar's Office Responsibilities • Scheduling of Classes/Registration • Record Grades / Maintain Academic Record • Evaluation of Transfer Credits • Transcripts • Graduation • Athletic Eligibility • Questions regarding Academics

  5. Declaring a Major • For Information: • Go to the Center for Academic Support & Advising Services (DeMoss 2d Floor)

  6. Full Time Status Undergraduate 12 hours Masters 9 hours Doctoral 6 hours

  7. Full-time Status is important because: • Financial Aid Eligibility • Athletic Eligibility • I-20 for International Students

  8. Registration When? • Late-March/early-April for the Fall Term How? • See Advisor, Register on the Web

  9. The rule for the drop/add deadline is: You may drop/add only during the first seven days. The drop/add period ends at 4:00 pm on Jan. 26th. The rule for the drop deadline is: You may drop with a grade of W or WF from the second to tenth week of class. The drop period ends at 4:00 pm on March 29th. Tuition refunds, if appropriate, are only available during the first seven (7) days.

  12. Academic Honors • Dean’s List – Cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher • Honors Program

  13. Graduation Honors • Students who achieve high academic standards while at Liberty are recognized at Graduation. 3.500 – 3.674 Cum Laude 3.675 – 3.849 Magna Cum Laude 3.850 and above Summa Cum Laude

  14. Academic Standing • Requirements to be met: HoursGPA 0 – 24 1.50 24 – 48 1.65 48 – 72 1.85 72 – 120 2.00

  16. Academic Warning • Limited to 13 hours of classes • College Learning Strategies Course

  17. Academic Probation • Limited to 13 hours of classes • College Learning Strategies Course • Participation in Liberty activities and/or sports is limited.

  18. Academic Suspension • You must appeal in writing to the Registrar’s Office if you desire to continue your studies at LU • The Registrar may determine a plan that will prepare students for re-entry to Liberty University • This plan may include attendance at another college for 12 hours (minimum 2.5 gpa) • Automatic readmission should not be expected.

  19. Academic Dismissal • Will not be allowed to return to Liberty for at least five years Appeal Process: A Letter will need to be submitted to CAAS

  20. How to calculate my GPA

  21. Graduation • Minimum 2.0 GPA no exceptions!!! • 120 Hours • 30 Hours of Upper Level Classes • Course may be used only once on Status Sheet • “D” can’t be used in an Upper Level Class in Major/Minor

  22. Graduation • 30 Hours of Classes must be taken at Liberty University • 50% of your major or minor must be taken at Liberty University • Christian/Community Service Requirements (CCSER) must be met

  23. Withdrawal • How? • Withdrawal Form • Dropping all but one class & then withdrawing = complete withdrawal of all classes $$$ implications • What grades? • Grades will be reported as W or WF • When? • Before the last day of class • Please don’t leave LU without talking to us!!!
