Sizing • Microsoft provides size guidelines
Touch Guidelines • Even if it works for mouse, might not work for touch. • If UI works well for a finger, also works for a pen • Use bright background colors • Use a textured background fill or halftones • Turn cursor off • No tactile feedback – use sound / animation • Small controls difficult to use • Text input and selection difficult • Ensure enough space between controls
Kiosk Guidelines (ELO) • Limit amount of text • Consider digitized speech • Rule of thumb-sized buttons • No double-clicking • No pull-down menus • No scrolling or scroll bars • No dragging • Simple navigation (back, forward, start) • Do not use your web site as a kiosk • Must not look like a PC • Keyboard and mouse might be turn-off
