  2. What is TEMPUS? Tempus supports the modernisation of higher education and creates an area of co-operation in countries surrounding the EU. Established in 1990, the scheme now covers 27 countries in the Western Balkans, Eastern Europe and Central Asia, North Africa and the Middle East. Partnerships are made up of consortia of higher education institutions in both EU and partner countries. The latest phase of the programme, Tempus IV, started in 2008 with an annual budget of around 50 million euro. Individual projects receive funding of between 0.5 and 1.5 million euro. The EU’s Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA) is responsible for the management of all Tempus actions, under the supervision of the European Commission.

  4. TEMPUS? The project is divided in two component parts: Creation of International Relations Offices [IRO] Pilot project on implementation of ECTS [European Credit Transfer System]and preparation for future Bologna experts. Bezalel conducts the pilot in the Architecture department

TEMPUSCORINTHIAM Objectives ❶ ECTS - Pilot project on the implementation of ECTS at faculty level. ❷Dissemination -of results to third parties in Middle East. ❸IRO - Establishment of Central Offices Responsiblefor the Internationalisationat Homeas assurance of quality. Development of a strategy for Internationalisation. ❹ Quality Assurance - Introduction of quality mechanisms specific to the process of internationalisation and the services offered by the Central Offices for International Relations. ❺ Preparation of specialists in EHEA, implementation of ECTS, Diploma Supplement and other instruments that facilitate exchange mobility and joint ventures between EU and the Middle East region. . .

TEMPUSCORINTHIAM ECTS ❶ ECTS is one of the cornerstones of the Bologna Process ❷ ECTS is a learner-centred system for credit accumulation and transfer based on the transparency of learning outcomes and learning processes. It aims to facilitate planning, delivery, evaluation, recognition and validation of qualifications and units of learning as well as student mobility. ❸ECTS credits are based on the workload students need in order to achieve expected learning outcomes Workload- indicates the time students typically need to complete all learning activities (such as lectures, seminars, projects, practical work, self-study and examinations) required to achieve the expected learning outcomes Learning outcomes-Learning outcomes are statements of what a student should know, understand and/or be able to demonstrate after completion of a process of learning .

TEMPUSCORINTHIAM ECTS • ❹60 ECTS credits = a full-time year of academic year. • [1 ECTS= 25-30 hours of student work] • 1500-1800 hours of learning activity. • 1 st Cycle [ 3 Academic years - BA ] = 180 ECTS • 2nd Cycle [ 2 Academic years -MA] = 120 ECTS • 3rdCycle[PhD]degree is not yet defined in terms of credit נ"ז בארכיטקטורה + 30 נ"ז היסטוריה ותיאוריה 300 ECTS 150 נ"ז

TEMPUSCORINTHIAM Time Table & Actions ① Pre Pilot 2nd Year [2nd semester 2010-2011] In 3 different courses [studio, technical course and a theoretical one] which will cover the basic teaching methods applied in the department. The pilot concern the writing of a new syllabus format according to the European standards, including the ECTS, the learning outcomes (LO) for each course, the student workload as estimate by the professors, the teaching and assessments methods. ② Students Pilot [2nd semester 2010-2011] An evaluation report regarding the student's workload is prepared with a group of 2nd year students in order to examine the actual situation and to adjust the amount of work required and the number of credits for each course.

  9. TEMPUSCORINTHIAM Time Table & Actions ③The professional degree and the Bologna Process -The case-study of Architecture A serial discussions with academic, professional and the CHE [Council of Higher Education] to debate the pros and cons of the application of the Bologna protocol in the professional degrees and their implication on the curriculum. The complete pilot will start at the beginning of the next academic year [Oct. 2011- June 2012].
