Battery-free Remote Sensing Program Description Design and build a battery-free working prototype to power an unattended ground sensor(s) (UGS) designated by CERDEC. The power system will be designed to operate for 10-20 years in extreme temperature environments. • Current Program Objectives • Identify candidate UGS that can benefit from a long-lived, reliable power source • Coordinate with sensor developers to characterize and evaluate UGS. • Select UGS to be powered by a working prototype to be developed in Phase II. • Characterize selected UGS and determine power requirements. • Develop conceptual design of battery-free power module. Identification of CERDEC Sponsors and current Contract Number. • Technology Objectives to be Achieved • Develop a photovoltaic/capacitor based power source for UGS as a long-lived alternative to batteries, which are short-lived and unreliable in temperature extremes. • Support persistent surveillance in denied areas. • Maximize power to be generated/stored within the size and weight constraints of identified missions. • Interface to designated sensors and network infrastructures • Transition objectives to Programs/Directives • ROM Cost - $1.0M Ambient Control Systems Inc. 1810 Gillespie Way,Suite 210,El Cajon, California,92020-1094, USA
