Problems at Valley Forge • Washington had problems getting supplies from congress for his troops, winter made this problem worse • Long marches and fighting had destroyed the soldier’s shoes and clothes, blankets and clothing were scarce. • Many provisions were provided to the men by the state the regiment was from
Problems at Valley Forge • Nearly 2,000 men died due to malnourishment and diseases • Shortage of supplies caused nearly 4,000 men to be listed as unfit for duty • Desertion was rampant
