Welcome Message Chairman, members and friends of the DICOM standard committee, On behalf of the Bureau of Standards, Metrology and Inspection (BSMI), I would like to extend my warm welcome to all gathered here to participate in the Meeting of DICOM standard committee. Implementation of international standards is very important for us. As you know, currently in BSMI,we try to help industry to develop healthcare information technology (IT) and hospitals to promote electronic patient records (EPR). We also encourage the domestic healthcare product can verified by international standards. All of these works are relied on the standards, such as: DICOM and HL7. We are happy to know that Medical Image Standards Association of Taiwan (MISAT) is helping us to promote DICOM Standards and IHE activity. I think that during this stage, we need a lot of comments from related societies and advices from experts to implement these standards as well. I know that most of you are expert in this area, please do not hesitate to give us some suggestions during stay in Taiwan. Finally, I wish the best success to this meeting and everyone enjoy here as I do. Thank you and welcome to Taiwan!   4. Routine Activity • Held DICOM WG10 and SC meetings on 3/22,3/23. • Attended DICOM SC meetings, in Chicago, Taipei. • MISAT: 79 individual members and 14 group members.Continue to promote more members to joint MISAT • Update the activity information for DICOM/Taiwan website (www.dicom.org.tw).

  5. DICOM/IHE promotions in 2006 • Held 4 workshops (~300+ people) : • Introduction of DICOM • WADO application in Medical Informatics Systems • Compression, Image Display Function, Security….. • IHE success implement story in hospital • IHE panel discussion

  6. DICOM Promotion • Help National Health Insurance Bureau (NHI) to implement the Internet Pre-Operation Insurance Claim System with DICOM/HL-7 standard • PKI for Secure Inter-Hospital Information Exchange • Popularize the UTF-8 Chinese characters of DICOM standard • BSMI (Bureau of Standards, Metrology and Inspection ) supports this project.

  7. Proposed Work Items (2007) • Prepare and announce IHE Taiwan(2007) TF draft for public comment thru internet. • IHE Demonstration and Connect_A_thon will be held on March and September conjunction withRS/ROC and CS/Taiwan Annual Meeting. Local product venders (Software and LCD display) and international product venders are invited. • BSMI (Bureau of Standards, Metrology and Inspection ) supports this project.

Proposed Work Items • DICOM Training Notes Editing: Lecture Notes collected from local DICOM conference and Workshop • Assist BSMI (Bureau of Standards, Metrology and Inspection ) to adapt ISO12052 into CNS (Taiwan National Standard). • Held 2 DICOM workshop and conference in 2007: • Introduction of DICOM-2006 and application examples • Dicom-dir for Inter-Hospital Information Exchange • Digital Signature and Encryption • Dicom Implementation in Hospital
