Listening: • What are they talking about? • Does Li Qun think what Kate will do is suitable?
Reading: Read the dialogue, then fill in the form. A large tank. Fish can get enough air. A few large rocks. Fish love swimming round the rocks and through hole in them. Some underwater plants. For one thing they keep the water clean. Also they make the tank look much prettier.
Language points: • the other day: a few days ago 与动词的 • 过去时态连用。 前几天我看到了你的好朋友。 I saw your friend the other day. 前几天约翰结婚了。 John got married the other day. the other day 前几天(用于过去时) some other day 改日(用于将来时) every other day 每隔一天
2. suggest + that 从句 (1)表示“建议干某事”时,that 从句一般 用虚拟语气。 (2)表示“表明,暗示”时,that从句一般 不用虚拟语气。 What he said suggested that he was not honest.
3. for one thing首先;一则 一般用来列出理由,常用在for one thing…for another (thing) 或for one thing …also的结构中表示“一则……再则……”或“首先……其次……”的意思。 我不能去。首先是我没有钱;其次我没时间。 I can’t go. For one thing, I have no money. Also I have no time.
Practice: I. Practise in pairs. II. Tell your partner how to keep fish, using these words and phrases.
