  2. Imogen Cunningham Her History • Born April 12, 1883, Portland, Oregon, U.S. • Began exploring photography in 1901 • Won a foreign study scholarship; attended Technische Hochschule in Dresden, Germany from 1909 to 1910 • Married the etcher Roi Partridge in 1915

Imogen Cunningham Her History (cont.) • Had three children • Moved to San Francisco in 1917 • Mid-thirties; Roi and Imogen divorced • At 91 she created the Imogen Cunningham Trust; protected her work • Overall her life was filled with hardships • Died June 24, 1976, San Francisco, California at the age of 93

  4. Imogen Cunningham Her Career • Student at the University of Washington; study photographic chemistry • Career began with a part time job in the Seattle studio of Edward S. Curtis • Worked for magazines, created a portrait studio, and worked as a teacher at the California School of Fine Arts • 1930’s worked for Vanity Fair; took portraits of celebrities • Joined the group f/64; founded by Ansel Adams and Willard Van Dyke
