Four Programs GoalsNational, State and Local • Preventing the initiation of tobacco use among young people. • Promoting quitting among young people and adults. • Eliminating nonsmokers' exposure to environmental tobacco smoke (ETS). • Identifying and eliminating the disparities related to tobacco use and its effects among different population groups.

Surveys • Sampling Frame • The sampling frame of a survey is the pool of potential subjects from which the survey participants are sampled. Examples include the Kansas population, all youth in specific grades, Business owners, Physicians, and cities • The information collected has a different interpretation based on who is sampled and what questions are being asked of them. Asking someone about their personal habits is different than asking a business owner about their workplace policy
Surveys – Adult Kansans • Kansas Adult Tobacco Survey • Periodically conducted • Generalizable information to the State of Kansas and some sub-state analysis • Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System • Conducted annually • Core used to produce prevalence estimates • State Added or Optional Modules available
