  3. Behavior. This fearsome looking creature has a long dorsal spine that is tipped with a photophore, a light organ. They use this organ to attract prey. They flash it on and off to lure other, smaller fish. This works because there is very little light in the deep sea, therefore the fish are attracted to the light.
