2. Quick Tips Make your time visual
Write down due dates
Create to do lists
Maintain a balance between long-term and short-term planning.
Keep your calendar, planner, or lists in a highly visible spot and refer to them regularly.
Make use of small chunks of time.
Take scheduled breaks during longer study sessions.
3. Long-Term Planning Write down all your due dates on a semester and/or monthly calendar
exams, papers, presentations, etc
Look at the big picture and get a sense of how all your assignments line up with one another
Post this calendar somewhere you will see it every day
Next to your mirror or on your closet door are good spots.
Monthly & Semester Schedules are available
in our office or on our website!
4. Short-Term Planning Make a list of all your assignments for the upcoming week
Complete a weekly schedule
Fill-in all regularly scheduled activities (Class, practice, etc.)
Identify specific days and times you want to work on specific assignments
Carry this schedule with you for the week and refer to it regularly
Weekly Schedules are available in our office or on our website!
6. Sticking to Your Schedule After attempting to use your schedule for one week . . .evaluate!
Ask yourself:
How does the reality of how you spent your time compare to your ideal plan?
What can you do to bring your reality and your ideal into greater harmony?
Plan to study over a period of several short chunks of time rather than scheduling marathon study sessions.
Set specific goals for each study session and reward yourself when you reach your goals.
Make sure that your study environment promotes rather than hinders your productivity.
