Target, Wal*Mart, H&M, and JC Penney have all featured designer collections. These lines of clothing are also known as “fashion for the masses.”
Although the clothes still possess the general aesthetic and feeling of the designer, they cost considerably less than they usually would. Because they’re so affordable, everyone can get a slice of designer style.
Besides featuring designers of other items, such as furniture and toilet brushes (remember?), Target hosts the GO International collection, featuring clothes from a rising designer for about three months. After these three months are up, a new designer is featured.
The GO International collection debuted in February of 2006 and continues today. Over these two years, many designers have been featured, including Luella, Paul & Joe, Behnaz Sarafpour, Proenza Schouler, Libertine, Alice Temperley, and the most recent, Jovovich-Hawk.
This is a look from the Proenza Schouler for GO International line. If one was to buy an original corset such as the blue one shown in this picture, they could expect to pay around $10,000. But at Target, the same corset (made with cheaper materials) was only $50!

H & M is a Swedish clothing chain that features affordable, fashion-forward clothing. They have locations all over the world, including ones in Europe, North America, Asia, and Australia.
They have had collaborations with Chanel designer Karl Lagerfeld, Stella McCartney, avant-garde Dutch designers Viktor & Rolf, Madonna. Their most recent collaboration was with Italian designer Roberto Cavalli.
Clothes from these collaborations tend to sell out very quickly. When Karl Lagerfeld’s collection debuted, it was reported that much of the inventory in most of the stores sold out in about an hour. Karl Lagerfeld with a model wearing clothing from his collaboration with H&M

Wal*Mart is home to the Metro7 collection, designed by actress and soap opera star Dayanara Torres. Featuring almost nothing over $20, it consists of hip, of-the-moment clothing and shoes.

Department store JC Penney recently introduced a collection by designer denim dominates and identical twins Chip and Pepper. The collection features basics such as t-shirts and tanks, but even better, Chip and Pepper’s usual $200 jeans for about $50!

Hopefully this has given you a better idea and visual of the designer collections I describe in my third paragraph!
