  1. BEHAVIOR EXPECTATIONS Be a responsible young adult and act appropriately. Dress appropriately for school, always following the school uniform policy. Pay attention at all times and ask for permission to speak or to leave your seat. Be prepared for learning by arriving on time to class with all necessary materials. Be courteous. Avoid talking while the teacher or another student is presenting information. Use positive and caring language when you speak. Respect and care for yourself and your classmates. Refrain from eating & drinking beverages inside the classroom.

  2. CONSEQUENCES FOR VIOLATIONS Verbal warning. Time out (in class or in another designated classroom). Loss of privileges or computer use Parent notification - phone call, email, letter, etc. Conference - Teacher(s), Guidance Counselor, and Student. Student speaks with an administrator. Parent conference with the Team. PS-74 (discipline referral to the administration).

  3. KEY POLICIES & PROCEDURES ATTENDANCE: Please be here in school everyday. It is very important that you are in class each day. If you must miss school for valid reasons, it is your responsibility to get from your teacher the make up work or assignments on the day you return to school. If it is an excused absence, please bring a note from your parent(s)/doctor so you will be marked “excused”.

  4. KEY POLICIES & PROCEDURES ENTERING THE CLASSROOM: Students must come to class on time. Line up quietly outside the room and wait for your teacher to let you come in. As soon as you enter the classroom: Go to your assigned seat and quietly put your things down. Sit down and begin the warm-up. If you must sharpen your pencil, do it quickly and quietly. You are encouraged to sharpen your pencils at the beginning of class. Bring at least 2 pencils when you come to class everyday. There should be no unnecessary talking when entering the class.

  5. KEY POLICIES & PROCEDURES EXITING THE CLASSROOM: The bell does not dismiss you. It is your teacher who dismisses the class. Before going out, make sure you copy the day’s homework/assignments. Do not begin packing up until you are told to do so. Your teacher will tell you when it is time to line up to exit the class. Students must line up quietly and exit the room. Students must always move in a single line during change of class.

  6. KEY POLICIES & PROCEDURES ASKING QUESTIONS: Everyone is encouraged to ask questions. Nobody in class should be afraid or intimidated to ask questions for fear of making a mistake, being ridiculed or laughed at. When you have a question, raise your hand and wait for your teacher to call on you.

  7. KEY POLICIES & PROCEDURES RESTROOM USE: Restroom use while class is going on is on a case-to-case basis, and permission maybe given only if it is extremely important. If you must leave class to use the restroom, silently raise your right hand and wait for me to acknowledge you. As a school policy, you cannot use the restroom during the first or last 10 minutes of class. Nobody should use the restroom during change of class.

  8. KEY POLICIES & PROCEDURES USE OF ELECTRONIC DEVICES: All electronic gadgets other than calculators are strictly not allowed in class. If anybody is caught using his/her cellphone or any electronic devices, it will be confiscated and maybe given back at the end of class. If infraction is repeatedly done, it will be confiscated and be given to an Administrator for your parent to pick up at the end of the day.

  9. KEY POLICIES & PROCEDURES FOOD & DRINKS: Food and drinks are not allowed in the classroom at ANY time. DRESS CODE: Follow the policy set by the school. Students not following the dress code will be sent to the office.

  10. KEY POLICIES & PROCEDURES HOMEWORK: Homework is the perfect time for you to practice what we have learned in class. Late homework will not be accepted, unless you miss class for a valid reason (excused absence). Visit the class website for all homework assignments: www.dolmans.weebly.com

  11. GRADING POLICY Classwork: 30% of quarter grade This includes all work completed in the classroom setting, including warm-ups, projects and any additional classwork. Participation, Preparedness and Behavior will also be considered.

  12. GRADING POLICY Homework: 20% of the quarter grade This includes all work completed outside the classroom (worksheets and any online assignments).

  13. GRADING POLICY Assessment:50% of the quarter grade This category entails both traditional assessments (exams & quizzes) and alternative assessments (presentations, projects). TOTAL: 100%
