General • This slide set shows the basic link and system level simulation assumptions that were used in evaluating HSDPA benefits and comparison of impact of different features. • The basic principle has been that companies presenting simulation results are not restricted to the parameters presented due e.g. differences in the simulation platforms (deviations need to be inidicated) • The parameters presented briefly are from TR 25.848 from TSG RAN WG1 used in the HSDPA study phase, which contains more complete description. • Note that some parameters for e.g. frame length or modulations to use are fixed since approval of TR 25.848 (03/2001, see Tdoc RP-010191)
Data Traffic Model • The described data-traffic model simulates bursty web traffic. The parameters of the model have been tailored to reduce simulation run time by decreasing the number of UEs required to achieve peak system loading .
UE Mobility Model • With dynamic UE mobility the following speed distribution has been used
Packet Scheduler • Two simple schedulers have been defined that bound performance. • The first scheduler (C/I based) provides maximum system capacity at the expense of fairness, because all frames can be allocated to a single user with good channel conditions • The Round Robin (RR) scheduler provides a more fair sharing of resources (frames) at the expense of a lower system capacity. • Other scheduler has been used as well in later phase (proportionally fair etc…)
Performance Metrics • Performance metric has been define to have same outputs • E.g. different values to indicate throughputs with or without retransmissions
On-going Activity • Latest activity is the definition of the simulation parameters for TX diversity cases &MIMO simulations. The table attached is from draft TR (not yet approved) and additionally there is going to be detailed channel model defined • With the channel model trade-off is simulation complexity and number of different cases and details of real-life modeling covered
Coming Developments • Several issues impacting the future simulation assumptions are expected to be decided shortly such as HARQ details with non-identical retransmissions etc. • The TX diversity/MIMO channel model will also be discussed in the next meeting in Jeju.
